This project took advantage of favorable ADU regulations in the city of Sacramento. With an existing garage on the property, space was at a premium. Additionally, we did not want to get rid of the existing detached garage that was heavily used. So, we decided to build a second story. The first story consists of the existing workshop, as well as a small one bedroom unit for in-laws. The second story unit has great views and a second bedroom. Currently used as a home office, it has a fully separate kitchen and it's own address. The future looks bright with great rental potential for this unit being in the vicinity of the rapidly expanding UC Davis Medical Center. Building up is a great way to reduce building costs per square foot.
